Sophie scholl and the white rose was a very interesting read it tells the story of who the anti nazi group called the white rose came to be and how it was destroyed by the gestapo we get the backgrounds of its members and learn how their life experiences prepared them for the rolls they would play in their passive resistance organization. At the age of 21 sophie scholl was executed by the peoples court in germany on feb 22 1943 during the holocaust for her involvement in the white rose an organization that was secretly writing pamphlets calling for the end of the war and strongly denouncing the inhuman acts of the nazis. Sophie scholl soon joined hans scholl at the university of munich to study and soon became a member of the resistance organization which dubbed itself the white rose the members of the white rose committed themselves to exposing the ugly truth behind nazi propaganda. Scholl was a member of the white rose a small anonymous group of mostly university students who hoped that by distributing leaflets and graffitiing public spaces they could awaken complacent german intellectuals
